For the benefits of the unemployed graduates, an institute called Loyola Institute of Placement and Training (LIPT) will be functioning to take care of the training related to placement. Every month, one placement programme by a MNC will be organized in our campus, which will give exposure to our students.
In the first year, the proficiency in English language will be imparted so as to equip the BE students to appear for TOEFL and IELTS exams during second year.
Group discussions, Aptitude Tests and Personality Development Training are conducted regularly for the MBA and 2nd year BE students so as to assure placement during the pre-final or final semester.
To expose the students to the Industrial Environment, following placement activities organized to the students :
   
Students / Staff Seminars, every week.
Guest Lectures by successful Industrial Leaders, every alternate week
Department Association Activities, once a month
Industrial visits, every semester
Industrial Tours, 3rd / Final year
 

In addition to these, cultural program with orientation towards personality development, are organized once in a semester (15th August & 26th January). The students are encouraged to practice the cultural events on daily basis.

Placement Training

            To be successful in the campus recruitment at the end of the 3rd year (III BE), Students are directed to have atleast 10 certificates with proficiency in the following 5 disciplines (2 certificates in each) in addition to their academic performance with more than 70% in their subjects.

  • English, either BEC, TOEFL or IELTS
  • Sports, games and Athletics
  • Cultural Programs (Quiz, memory contests, elocution, turn coat, declamation, team events etc.)
  • Organising and participation in Department related Association / Activities.
  • Specialisation and in-depth knowledge in one focal area.

Facilities and Training are provided right from the first year to develop knowledge in the following areas.

 
o General Knowledge
o Listening to the NEWS and discussion on the daily news.
o Test of Reasoning
o Communication Skills
o Language Practice and Spoken English
o Group Discussion Technique
o Presentation skill development &
o Facing the interview
 
The above topics will be covered in one or two periods per week, by a specialist. The following training programme were organized during the academic year 2008 - 09.
 

•  Mr.Ambrose, former Placement Officer of Karunya Institute of Technology, Coimbatore gave a two hour Program on what is expected from the candidates during placement Interviews.

•  Prof.Manohar, former placement Officer of MEPCO also gave a programme on the same topic.

•  Mrs.Chithra Manohar Supplemented by talking about the  body language during Interviews.

•  Dr.Satheesh, Professor & HOD of SCAD Engineering College , gave a workshop for one full day on 01/09/08.

•  Prof.Thomas Joseph, former Director of Electrical Science Department of KIT, gave a two days retreat for the students, which involved, counseling, introducing the Engineering concept & relationship between all these Engineering branches. He recommended the students to understand the physical meaning of every parameter of any equation.  Specially he suggested to analyse the power equation which helps to understand the basic electrical technology, needed for all branches.

•  The question pattern used by M/S. Infosys and M/S. TCS for quantitative aptitude is adopted and students are solving around 100 problems during every semester @ ten questions per week.

•  The experience of a person(MBA) who was employed in a BPO firm initially, later in a MNCompany and HDFC bank is shared with the student (one period per week) to expose the students towards their future working environment.
